Customer List Setup
Idea shared by Robert Pennington - January 5 at 6:41 PM
Under Consideration
I am in the web development field and easyprojects works great for me.  However, I was looking in the manage customers section and it is pretty much setup to add a company as a customer.  Most of my customers are companies, but in the add customer section it has no options for peoples names.  Sometimes there might be multiple contacts within a company I deal with.  Sometimes I do projects for an individuals company, but then also do projects for the same person but under a different company.  I think having a "contact" field in the add customer form would be a good integration.  Having the ability to add multiple contacts for a company and have the ability to link that contact to a project.  I know that I can accomplish some of this with the custom fields and that is what I will do.  But I think it might be a good feature to add into the software itself.  Especially the multiple contacts within a company.  I am sure other people have dealt with this issue too.  Does anyone have any suggestions on how I should create custom fields to come close to this functionality?

Hi Robert,

Thanks for your suggestion, I have added it to our internal list of product suggestions. Our team will go through the list and depending on what we feel would benefit Easy Projects users the most, we would then pass those onto development to see if they possible to include in a future update.

For this specific request, I think that you are correct with the use of custom fields. What you can do is go into the custom fields section and create a new field under customers, choose the field type as text area and you can then, on your customer, create a full contact card (including the person’s name, address or phone number, email address...etc.) if you want.

If you have more than 1 customer then you can create multiple custom fields (Contact 1, Contact 2...etc. or whatever naming structure suits you)

If you just want to add the customers name, then you can choose the custom field type as just text.

I hope this helps,

David
