Advanced installer SQL session setup

Installation & Upgrade

If you used the Advanced installation package to install Easy Projects then the way to set it up to use the recommended SQL server session storage mode instead of default InProc (where a session is stored in IIS) is as follows.

This is to be done in two places: the Windows cmd line area, and the web.config file in the EP root folder (c:\inetpub\wwwroot\easyprojects by default).

For the first step run the following command:

C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\aspnet_regsql.exe -S yoursqlserver -U yoursqluser -P yourpassword -ssadd -sstype p

(replace v4.0.30319 with v2.0.50727 if you use EP v7.x or older)

Where "yoursqlserver" - a name of your SQL server where EP DB is located, "yoursqluser" - a name of SQL server administrator, usually 'sa', "yourpassword" - a password for this user.

The second step is to change the item in the web.config. Using Notepad, open the web.config file.

Replace this line:

<sessionState mode="InProc" sqlConnectionString="Integrated Security=SSPI;data source=logic;" timeout="600"/>

With this line and then modify the default to your particulars:

<sessionState mode="SQLServer" sqlConnectionString="server=yoursqlserver;Trusted_Connection=false;uid=yoursqluser;pwd=yourpassword;enlist=false;" timeout="600" />
