Report Generator: Data Sources

Custom reports, known also as Report Generator, allow you to design and run a report of virtually any complexity. This section contains information about pre-set arrays of data fields that you can use as ‘building blocks’ for your customized reports.

 

There are 11 data sources in total. The following table discusses them in detail.

 

Data Source

Available Fields

Result

Projects

Complete set of fields/attributes specific to a project. These include ID, name, estimation hours, etc. In total 20 fields.

Reports displaying project-related information.

Examples include: report listing members per project, or projects with their start and end dates specified, etc.

All activities

Fields specific to projects PLUS activities regardless of their type.

Reports displaying activity related data.

Example: list of activities with their assignees and estimated hours.

NOTE: Only projects with existing activities will be listed.

All activities (Hierarchical)

Fields attributable to projects PLUS activities regardless of their type.

Data is presented in hierarchical order.

Reports displaying project and activity related data and arranging it in hierarchical order.

Tasks

Fields attributable to activities of the Task type.

Reports displaying project and task related data.

Example: list of tasks with their assignees and estimated hours.

NOTE: 1) Only activities with type Task will be included

2) Only projects with existing tasks will be listed.

Tasks (Hierarchical)

Fields attributable to activities of the Task type.

Data is presented in hierarchical order.

Reports displaying tasks arranged in hierarchical order.

NOTE: 1) Only activities with type Task will be included

2) Only projects with existing tasks will be listed.

Issues

Fields attributable to activities of the Issue type.

Reports displaying issue related data.

Example: list of issues with their assignees and estimated hours.

NOTE: 1) Only activities of Issue type will be included

2) Only projects with existing issues will be listed.

Issues (Hierarchical)

Fields attributable to activities of the Issue type.

Data is presented in hierarchical order.

Reports displaying issue related data arranged in hierarchical order.

NOTE: 1) Only activities with type Issue will be included

2) Only projects with existing issues will be listed.

Requests

Fields attributable to activities of the Request type.

Reports displaying request related data.

NOTE: 1) Only activities with type Request will be included

2) Only projects with existing requests will be listed.

Requests (Hierarchical)

Fields attributable to activities of the Request type.

Data is presented in hierarchical order.

Reports displaying requests arranged in hierarchical order.

NOTE: 1) Only activities with type Request will be included

Time Entries

Fields specific to time entries, activities and projects.

Reports displaying data related to time logs.

NOTE: Only projects AND activities with actual time entries will be listed.

Messages

Fields specific to messages posted on project or activity message boards.

 

Reports displaying data related to messages available in the system.

NOTE: Only projects AND activities that have actual messages on their message boards will be listed.

Portfolio

Fields specific to portfolios.

Reports displaying data related to portfolios available in the system.

Payments

Fields specific to payments.

Reports displaying data related to payments related to projects, activities and portfolios.

Expenses

Fields specific to payments.

Reports displaying data related to expenses related to projects, activities and portfolios.

 

To select a data source:

 

1.

In Reports > Report Generator, click "Create a new report".

2.

Name the report.

3.

Choose a data source, and click "Select" to apply your selection.
